Light.ca Shines Bright in October 30 .CA TBR Domain Drop

Last week's .ca TBR drop on the eve of Halloween featured a total of 130 .ca domains that were caught.  Leading the list was a highly premium domain, Light.ca, probably one of the best .ca domains to drop in a while.  There are probably many potential uses and end users for a domain such as Light.ca (and no, it wasn't me that got it in the drop!).

Also, last week featured the DNJournal weekly domain sales report, except that it was a two-week sales report as the author had been at the TRAFFIC domain conference in Florida.  There were a few .ca domains in the sales chart, including a five figure sale.  The domains that sold were:

Audiobooks.ca  -  $19,000  -  sold at DomainNameSales

Goodnites.ca  -  $2,200  -  sold at Sedo

Getcybersafe.ca  -  $1,250  -  sold at Sedo

Barrys.ca  -  $1,100  -  sold at Sedo

Not surprisingly, Audiobooks.ca looks to have been purchased by online audiobook retailer Audiobooks.com, and now forwards to that site.

Goodnites.ca looks to have been bought by a bedwetting underwear company, and now forwards to Goodnites.com

Getcybersafe.ca was a Canadian government purchase as I blogged about here last month.

Barrys.ca does not resolve.

One of the interesting pieces of information that came out of last month's TRAFFIC domain conference was given out by a person from Escrow.com, a company that helps to safely transact sales between two parties, including domain sales.  This person said that Escrow.com sometimes handles more sales in a week (by dollar value) that some domain selling venues do all year.  This is another reminder that the domain sales we see reported each week are not complete, as many (a great many) never get published or are held to non-disclosures.  Escrow also has reported that domain sales are becoming a bigger part of their business.  It seems that domains truly are becoming more important and in demand than ever, and with the coming launch of the new gtlds, domain names will be in the spotlight like never before.
